Responsibilities: As an intern at State Street District, you will play a crucial role in our dynamic team dedicated to organizing the State Street Art Fair, downtown events, and working closely with local businesses. The Marketing/Events Intern will be responsible to work with teams on the planning, marketing, and execution of  programs and events. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Crafting and implementing engaging social media marketing campaigns
  • Updating marketing and program materials
  • Research topics, themes, or speakers for future programs and events
  • Help with logistical preparation in the lead-up to events, both in-person and virtual
  • Inventory and management of program and event materials
  • Assisting in the coordination and execution of downtown events
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to enhance downtown experiences
  • Attend and participate at Team meetings and internal staff meetings
  • Administrative tasks and special projects as assigned

Qualifications: We are seeking a motivated and creative individual with:

  • Strong interest in social media marketing and events promotion
  • Ability to handle several tasks in varying stages of development
  • Ability to work independently, including prioritization of tasks and self-management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; CRM/ACM database experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent writing skills and willingness to use them
  • Willingness to experiment, to learn, and to be creative
  • Ability to create great working relationships
  • Must have at least one business outfit for attendance at business meetings
  • Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs. and stand for an hour unassisted

Hours: ~10 hours/ week; schedule TBD upon placement
Rate: $18-$20 per hour; school credit when applicable

Term: This internship is estimated March - August with requirement to work July 15-July 20 (week of the Ann Arbor Art Fair)

Work Environment: Hybrid, with offices located in the Michigan Theater Building
