The State Street District (SSD) operates the Ann Arbor State Street District Art Fair and is seeking multiple individuals to join us as Art Fair Site Supervisors during the event week of July 15, 2024. Training dates are to be determined with mutual agreement. The event is July 18-20 with Setup Day being July 17. 

This temporary position involves overseeing various aspects of the Art Fair to ensure its smooth execution. While the specific responsibilities include detailed tasks, we're looking for someone who can take charge and manage the overall coordination efficiently in a respectful and professional manner. 

Job Description: Assists with the organization and on-site management of the Ann Arbor State Street Art Fair under the Direction of the State Street District Director of Operations. 

Responsibilites:

1. Team Leadership:

  • Provide guidance and support to site managers and assistants in designated blocks.
  • Manage staff breaks to ensure a well-coordinated and productive work environment.

2. Logistics and Setup:

  • Coordinate and oversee vendor arrivals during Set Up and Move Out.
  • Oversee all tent setups, ensuring compliance with fire code and proper placement.
  • Ensure that booth installations are executed correctly and meet safety standards.

3. Event Coordination:

  • Coordinate the closure of streets at on Set Up and Move Out to facilitate smooth processes.
  • Ensure the proper installation of booth cards in a timely manner.

4. Site Management:

  • Oversee the management of barricades within a designated footprint during the event, ensuring proper placement and safety compliance.
  • Coordinate with various groups, including volunteers, security, solid waste management, golf carts, city utilities, and other city services as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in volunteering or coordinating large-scale events, preference given to art fairs. 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills for coordinating with artists, vendors, security, and staff. 
  • Ability to handle challenges and unexpected situations during event execution.
  • Keen attention to detail for correct booth installations and safety compliance.
  • Efficient time management for coordinating critical setup tasks on Set Up Day.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and make quick decisions.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate and address issues in a professional manner.
  • Flexibility to work during the event week, including early mornings and late evenings.

Special Requirements:

  • Able to work long hours, out-of-doors, maneuver through crowds, in all weather
    conditions – including heat, humidity, rain or other inclement conditions.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
